CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Volunteers from the Laus Group of Companies (LGC) joins bloodletting on Saturday to save lives during the 4th year of “Drive for Life” at the office of the Corporate Guarantee Insurance Corporation.
“Drive for Life: Give Blood, Save a Life” is an annual bloodletting activity and is part of LGC’s corporate social responsibility program, in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross-Pampanga-Angeles City Chapter.
According to Sheila Delos Santos, LGC Corporate Social Responsibility coordinator, around 75 volunteer-employees of LGC in the Pampanga area have volunteered to donate blood that will help the Red Cross in its drive.

“Last year, some 30 of 60 volunteers were able to give blood. Hopefully this year, all the 75 who enlisted would pass the screening so we could give more,” she said.
Most of this year’s volunteers are women, meant to give highlight to the celebration of Women’s Month.
“We are very thankful for the spirit of volunteerism from our employees who really want to help in saving lives,” Delos Santos added.
Similarly, Red Cross administrator Augusto Ocampo thanked LGC for the annual bloodletting which he said could greatly help in addressing the demand for blood, especially in emergencies.
“The 450cc of blood we would get from each volunteer here would be a big boost to our needs which is somewhere at 4,000 units for Pampanga alone. It would also be of help as we plan to open our vey own blood bank this year. The Red Cross thanks companies like the Laus Group for the noble cause,” said Ocampo. (Jovi T. De Leon)
