CANDABA -- Vice President Jejomar Binay has provided at least P11.9 million for the upgrading of the Candaba-San Miguel road’s Barangay Paralaya section here.
The project was requested by Mayor Jerry Pelayo to the Office of the Vice President as part of continuing efforts to provide convenience to residents living in the Kapampangan Region.
Pelayo has been continuously working and coordinating with concerned government agencies and officials to finish the construction of the remaining sections of the road.
He said the Candaba-San Miguel Road is vital in the development of this town in general, as this could lead to free flow of economic activities involving agricultural produce in communities from the Kapampangan Region.
Thelma Macapagal, Barangay Paralaya chief, said construction works had already started under the supervision of the Department of Public Works and Highways.
The Provincial Government earlier funded the construction of some 600 meters of the same road. This came as a group of farmers and concerned residents asked the Municipal Government to request Governor Lilia Pineda to help in the construction of the unfinished road. (Herbert P. Mapiles)
