Port of Clark among top Customs collecting districts

CLARK – The Port of Clark has maintained its position as one of the highest tax collecting district of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) in the country for five consecutive years.
Lawyer Ronnie Silvestre, Clark Customs collector, said the top five major source of collection last year were PTT Philippines Trading Corporation, United Parcel Service (UPS), LUBWELL Corporation, Trust International Paper Corporation (TIPCO) and Yokohama Tire Philippines.
The Port of Clark, Silvestre said, collected from PTT a total revenue of P532,821,063.75 seconded by UPS with a total contributions of P468,378,182, LUBWELL remitted a total of P49,341,576.44, TIPCO dropped to P33,888,002 while Yokohama with an average of P19,207,280.56.
Meanwhile, topping the list of top five exporters for the year 2012 were Yokohama Tire Philippines followed by Phoenix Semiconductor Philippines Corporation, Nanox Philippines Inc., L&T International Group Philippines Inc. and HLD Clark Steel Pipe Company Inc.
In line with this, the BOC on Monday gave due recognition to its partners and stakeholders inside the Freeport zone.
Silvestre led the awarding ceremony to the said deserving locators who were among the Freeport’s top five major exporters and source of collection last year.
Other top government officials who graced the awarding ceremony were Arthur Tugade, president of Clark Development Corporation and Victor Jose Luciano, president of Clark International Airport Corporation. (Chris Navarro)
