Maniago to hold on-the-spot painting with Manila artists

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Master painter Rafael Maniago will be the guest artist at the Think and Try Nursery School in San Antonio Village, Makati City, on April 1 for an afternoon of showcasing the renowned master’s skills in portraiture.
Maniago will be demonstrating his legendary surreal, hyper realistic and impressionist styles in an on-the-spot painting event that is expected to be participated in by artists from Manila and neighboring provinces.
“This is a chance for me to showcase my art and bring to the greater number artists the provincial quality of my styles in portraiture,” Maniago said.
Recently, Maniago was guest artist for a painting demonstration for students attending art courses in various Metro Manila schools.
Maniago, aside from being a painter, is also a Kapampangan poet. He attended the University of the East in Manila, where he studied Fine Arts and Commercial Advertisement.
For 20 years, he operated his own gallery in the Philippines and in 1989 he decided to come to the United States.
His passion for learning continued as he studied at the Pasadena Art Center. He has painted over 1,000 portraits, many of which were of Philippine leaders of Commerce, Industry and Politics. For years he has been conducting workshops throughout Southern California.
He is a member of the Portrait Society of America, American Society of Portrait Artists, California Art Club, Laguna Plain Air Painter Association.
