CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Butil Representative Agapito Guanlao recognized the recipients of the 2012 ArgiPinoy Rice Achievers’ Awards recently, urging sectors to contribute to the country’s rice sufficiency program.
The awardees that represented 10 provinces and 48 towns and cities, were chosen for their excellent accomplishments in fulfilling the targets set by the Department of Agriculture on rice production. This includes top rice producing provinces and municipalities, top irrigators’ associations, top small water impounding systems associations, and outstanding agricultural extension workers.
“Attaining self-sufficiency in rice is an important step towards our country’s achievement of food security, the Butil Party-list cannot be more supportive of this initiative of the Aquino administration,” Guanlao said.
The ceremony was held at the Philippine International Convention Center last March 15 with Secretary Proceso Alcala and other members of the Department of Agriculture’s top brass such as Undersecretary Joel S. Rudinas and Assistant Secretary Dante Delima.
The awarding coincided with the Department of Agriculture’s observance of the National Year of Rice this year.
