Grab opportunities, students told

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Councilor Jimmy Lazatin urged graduating students from various high schools here to grab educational opportunities and secure a better future.
Lazatin, who chairs the City Council’s committee on Education, has been doing his rounds of city schools as guest and speaker in commencement rites.
“I share my vision to all of you that education is the key to poverty alleviation. I have always believed that education leads to a better future as it will land you good jobs and create peaceful communities like what is happening in the City of San Fernando,” he said.
He told Sun.Star Pampanga it is precisely that vision and agenda, which has pushed him to enact laws and support the city’s education programs.
“Recently, we moved for the approval of five more integrated schools in the city so we can bring education closer to the youth, especially the marginalized. I am also continuously looking for PPPs or public-private partnerships in the likes of what we forged with Aboitiz Power and SM Malls for our Adopt-A-School projects,” he said.
Aside from authoring the charter of the City College of San Fernando, Lazatin on his own, during his 9-year tenure as councilor, looked after the welfare of students and schools, including the repair of dilapidated buildings and improvement of facilities.
