CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (PamCham) on Wednesday lauded and welcomed the proposal of re-elected Senator Allan Peter Cayetano for them to be partners for further development of Pampanga's countryside.

Cayetano, who graced the twin birthday celebration of Laus Group of Companies Director Ma. Theresa Laus and daughter LausAutoGroup executive Carissa Laus-Manalili Wednesday at Max's Restaurant in Villa Del Sol, broached the partnership idea to the influential business group which strongly endorsed him in the recent polls.

"Foremost, I would want to thank you for all the support you extended me in the last elections, that is why I returned to express my gratitude to PamCham and all Kapampangans. At total po, adopted n'yo na ako kaya siguro, mas maganda kung permanent partners na tayo for the development of all sectors in Pampanga," said Cayetano.

Among the many plans and bills the senator will push once Senate convenes include a real "education to employment" program which he described as already "disconnected;" jobs generation; free education for deserving marginalized students; strengthening of the microfinance sector; and the re-launching of the "Buy Filipino" movement.

PamCham Vice Chairman Rene Romero disclosed that the chamber is "very much willing for such a partnership since it will benefit stakeholders in the province."

"We welcome and we are very much open for such a partnership. In fact, that is the very reason why we endorsed candidates for senator in the last elections, for us to be heard in the national level. Just imagine the benefits it will redound to Pampanga and the whole region, the province being at the center point," Romero told Sun.Star Pampanga.

He added that the foresight of Cayetano for a well-balanced economy fostered by boosting manufacturing, tourism and essential infrastructure will certainly work both ways for the private sector and government.

"We could elevate our concerns through Senator Cayetano and his projects and programs from up could be cascaded down to us, particularly in the countryside. We are optimistic it will be a good partnership for development," said Romero.
