CAMP OLIVAS -- Two armed men on board a motorcycle tried to rob a 25-year-old man who just withdrew P400,000 from a bank, but failed to take the loot after the money scattered on the road, reports said.
In a belated report, Senior Superintendent Eden Ugale, Angeles City police director, identified the victim as Carlos Pagtalunan, 25, of Sta. Maria, Balibago, Angeles City.
Ugale said that even at gunpoint, Pagtalunan did not want to hand over the money he had just withdrawn from a Metrobank branch in Dau, Mabalacat City to the suspects. As a result of the scuffle, the money scattered on the road.
Because the suspects were not able to get the money, they shot
Pagtalunan on his right leg and then fled on board their motorcycle.
The victim was taken to the Angeles University Foundation Hospital for medical treatment.
Ugale said Police Station 4 received a call from the Rafael Lazatin Memorial Hospital that a male person was rushed for treatment of a gunshot.
A witness to the said failed robbery positively identified one of the suspects as Marcelino Lirasan, 22, a security guard and resident of Barangay San Nicolas, City of San Fernando.
Police recovered from the suspect during a follow-up operation a .38 caliber revolver Armscor loaded with four bullets and three spent shells.
