BACOLOR -- From where former Candaba Mayor Jerry Pelayo left, Mayor Oscar Tetangco Jr. of Apalit starts as the new president of the influential Pampanga Mayors' League (PML).
Tetangco ran unopposed in the PML election on Tuesday at King's Royal Resort Hotel in Bacolor.
"I would like to thank my fellow mayors for their trust and confidence in me. I also thank Governor Lilia Pineda for her support. Rest assured, I will do my best to lead and serve the league. Kung hindi man natin malampasan ang dating leadership ng PML, ay pipilitin nating lampasan pa at dagdagan ang serbisyo para sa ating mga kabalen," he said.
Tetangco also said that foremost will be unity in the PML and close coordination among mayors, particularly in times of calamities.
"Unity is a top priority for us, lalo na sa mga panahong ito na nasa kalamidad tayo. We must forget party affiliations and politics of the recent polls. In any case, open naman ang lines of communication among us. Kailangan, sama-sama para sa Pampanga," he added.
With Tetangco in the new PML administration are Mayors Eduardo Guerrero of Floridablanca, secretary; Annette Balgan of Macabebe, treasurer; Dante Torres of Guagua, auditor; Condralito Dela Cruz of Porac, business manager; and Edgardo Flores of Minalin, public relations officer.
The board of directors is composed of Mayors Roy Manalastas (Mexico), Rommel Concepcion (Sta. Ana), Asiong Macapagal (San Luis), Lito Naguit (Sto. Tomas) and Dan Guinto (Masantol).
Mayor Mylyn Cayabyab of Lubao is the executive vice president for operations, while vice-presidents are Romulo Pecson of Magalang (first district), Yolly Pineda of Sta. Rita (second district), Jomar Hizon of Bacolor (third district) and Rene Maglanque of Candaba (fourth district).
