MABALACAT CITY –- The City Government is set to enter into a 10-year contract for the operation of the Mabalacat City Bus Terminal (MCBT) in its bid to boost economic development and decongest traffic.
The City Council has approved the renewal of the contract between the City Government and the Samson-Castro Realty, the owner of the 8000 square meter lot where the terminal is located.
Mayor Marino Morales said he was already talking with the SC Realty for the finalization of the joint venture.
The old contract expired last August 18, 2013.
In the previous contract, the City Government entered into a joint venture with the Baron-Castro family for the operation of the terminal.
The owners, however, had already subdivided their real estate properties which prompted the city government to enter into a new agreement with the Samson-Castro family.
Morales said the new contract will pave the way for the new or upgraded MCBT which services buses plying to the North and vice versa.
Currently, the terminal average at least 1,000 buses per day and collects P100 terminal fee.
The terminal, according to Morales, generates additional local revenue for the city and also gives comfort to the travelling public.
