CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Representative Juan Pablo Bondoc (Pampanga, fourth district) recently urged officials in towns near the San Fernando-Sto. Tomas-Minalin tail dike to support efforts of saving the lives of residents.
The statement was made by Bondoc in a meeting attended by Minalin Mayor Edgar Flores, Sto. Tomas Vice Mayor Mark Louie Arceo, Board Member Nestor "Bay" Tolentino and other officials.
The lawmaker presented an analysis of the flooding problem in the third and fourth districts of Pampanga caused by waters coming from the Porac, Pasig-Potrero and Gugu Rivers.
He said the massive flooding in this city, Minalin, Sto. Tomas, Minalin, Macabebe and Masantol were due to big volume of water coming from the megadike.
"Kailangan keni saup saup tamu. Kailangan magobra tamu para king kapakanan da ring kabalen tamu," he said.
Bondoc also suggested the reopening of the Ventura River as one of the original water channel draining at Labuan River in Minalin.
"Sabyan tamu karela ibuklat ya ing Ventura River. Ilwalas taya at dinan armor ban kanita tuluy-tuluy ing dalan ning danum," he stated.
Bondoc also suggested that water should pass through Pasig-Potrero River out to Labuan River, then to Sasmuan River going to Pasac River.
Pasig-Potrero River is heavily armored on both banks and has the capacity to withstand big volumes of water from Porac River.
The river is far from the tail dike, which is sought to be protected.
Another problem is the closing of Pasig-Potrero River and the water is channeled to the left through Gugu Creek.
It was learned that the volume of water flowing from the Gugu Creek is big and strong enough to destroy the transverse dike, which is supposed to protect the water channel.
It is likewise suggested that water should be diverted to the upper portion of the Gugu transverse dike.
