CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Councilor Noel Tulabut said recently that the City Council has approved his resolution seeking the transfer of the Barangay Pandaras Elementary School to safer ground.
Tulabut, chair of the City Council's committee on education, had earlier sought for the transfer of the school as it was directly under electric posts and high tension wires of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).
He said that findings of the committee--based on complaints of students and their parents--indicated that "static" from the power lines were affecting children at the school.
"Kaya siguro mababa ang performance ng mga bata dahil sa static na iyun. In any case, it would be better if we would move the school to a safer site," he said.
Tulabut told Sun.Star Pampanga that last week, after approval of the resolution, officials from the City Government, Department of Education, NGCP and Pandaras Elementary School conducted an inspection of the new site in the same village and found it fit and safe.
"The next move now will be Mayor Edwin Santiago meeting the Appraisal Committee of the City Government. After that, the Local School Board will be convened for procedures on effecting the transfer of the school. May P83 million na budget naman an gating Local School Board. Rest assured, we will look into the safety of our students in our various public schools," Tulabut said.
