CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The National Food Authority (NFA) in Pampanga said Saturday that the public need not panic as there is no rice shortage in the province.
"We have enough rice and palay stocks in our warehouses," said NFA Pampanga Manager Elvira Obaña during her recent visit in Candaba town with officials of the Department of Agriculture.
Obaña said the NFA released a new variety of rice to ensure a steady supply during the duration of the lean season, which began in July until September.
"Mayroon pa tayong mahigit 100,000 kaban ng palay sa ating warehouse, sapat hanggang sa anihan sa susunod na buwan hanggang sa Oktubre," she told Sun.Star Pampanga.
She said the selling price of NFA regular-milled rice priced remains the same even before the province was struck by calamities.
NFA dispatched price monitoring teams in major markets in the country to ensure that the agency’s low-priced quality rice is continuously available in the midst of commercial and government rice.
The NFA monitoring team had noted an average increase of P29 to P35 per kilo of regular-milled rice and well-milled rice, respectively, in the commercial market.
