Board asks DPWH to ‘schedule’ projects-A A +A

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Provincial Board’s committee on public works on Friday urged the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and its attached agencies to coordinate with each other on the schedule of projects being implemented in various areas in Pampanga.
During a hearing at Capitol, public works committee chairman Board Member Ricardo Yabut stressed that the non-coordination and timing mismatches of projects cause inconvenience to Kapampangans, as well as disruptions in businesses.
"As an example, the bridge projects being implemented in Barangay Cabetican and Barangay San Juan in Bacolor are not scheduled properly. When roads leading to these bridges are closed, residents and traders lose their access to business areas. The DPWH has its own schedule, the MPE has its own, tapos iba din iyung schedule ng First Engineering District. We have nothing against the projects, kaya lang dapat, mag-coordinate sila at huwag sabay-sabay dahil wala ng madaanan,” Yabut told Sun.Star Pampanga.
Board Member Anthony Torres agreed and said that the non-coordinated works hampers economic activity.
"The areas surrounding the location of the projects are where manufacturers and furniture exporters are, including many small and medium entrepreneurs. We hope that the DPWH and those concerned will act on our request so economic activities there would not be hampered," said Torres.
