CAMP OLIVAS -- Police authorities have launched a manhunt operation against one of the four suspects who shot and wounded a project engineer during a robbery in front of San Fernando Elementary School in Barangay Sto. Rosario, City of San Fernando last Thursday.
In a text message, Senior Superintendent Oscar Albayalde, Pampanga police director, said one of the four suspects who carted away P245,000 from Pedro Navarro, a project engineer, has been identified by witnesses.
However, Albayalde said he could not yet give the name of the suspect, pending the arrest of his cohorts.
As of now, a police team has been tracking down the suspect, he said.
Four armed men riding in two motorcycles robbed Navarro in front of the gate of the said school. He had just withdrawn P245,000 from the Land Bank of the Philippines Dolores branch.
Albayalde said the victim arrived at the said school around 11 a.m. to deliver money to his project manager.
Navarro was assisted by security guard Daniel Franco when the four armed men approached them and at gunpoint declared the heist, he said.
For fear of his life, Navarro handed over the money, but one of the suspects shot him in his right hand and left leg, Albayalde said.
The suspects then immediately sped towards Barangay Sto. Nino, City of San Fernando.
Police recovered one deformed slug and one spent shell for caliber 9mm found outside the vehicle of the victim.
The victim was taken to the Makabali Memorial Hospital and was later transferred to San Fernandino Hospital for treatment. (Ric Sapnu)
