CANDABA -- The local chief executive of this town on Saturday stated he is optimistic that he will be cleared regarding the Malampaya fund scam.
Mayor Rene Maglanque denied any involvement in the alleged misuse of at least P900 million of the said fund.
"Hindi tayo sangkot diyan at wala tayong kinalaman sa sinasabi nila laban sa atin," he said.
He also welcomed the investigation, saying that his conscience is clear and he has no hand in any transaction pertaining to the use of the Malampaya fund.
He also insisted that the allegation against him is without basis.
The mayor likewise stated that he is ready to face the allegations. In fact, he has already met with his lawyers who are now tasked to prove his innocence.
Meanwhile, Maglanque assured his constituents here that the controversy will not affect the delivery of basic services and programs by the municipal government.
