Tuesday, October 8, 2013
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The provincial chief executive is asking incumbent barangay officials and their would-be rivals in the upcoming elections to avoid issuing negative statements against each other.
"Tell them not to hit each other below the belt; instead present their platforms and plans. This is what the people need to hear from them," said Governor Lilia Pineda as she promotes the peaceful conduct of barangay elections.
She also encouraged candidates to stay away from mudslinging and personal attacks to prevent grudges and hard feelings among families and supporters.
Pineda, in a recent meeting, reminded mayors in various towns in the province not to engage in partisan politics.
The governor stated that it would be for the best interest of the voting Kapampangans if mayors would remain neutral by not endorsing candidates for the barangay elections.
The campaign period started on October 18 until October 26, while the elections will be on October 28, from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m.
