CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The City Government of San Fernando is eyeing several countries for marketing links and sisterhood pacts to boost the local economy and tourism investments.
On Monday, Mayor Edwin Santiago told Sun.Star Pampanga that the City Government is mulling sending exchange students to Brazil, India, Russia, China and Australia to study the countries' languages, culture, way of life, as well identify areas where San Fernando could link up with.
"We want to know what sectors to develop so we can entice investors as well as tourists and retirees. It may be medical tourism, retirement haven, vacation village, or other organic industries that will draw them to the City of San Fernando," said Santiago.
He added that the City Government is now evaluating a proposed exchange study program for an initial batch of students.
"We are just being global-minded in moving towards the future as we aspire to be competitive. Already, we are transforming San Fernando into a green city which we believe is a primary requisite in globalization efforts. We want also to boost economic activity for sustainability and increased growth for the city," Santiago said.
