Provincial Board setting up PPP code-A A +A

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Provincial Board (PB) is setting in motion the much needed Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Code to enable the provincial government to boost its projects and programs.
On Thursday, the PB committee on ways and means headed by Third District Board Member Rosve Henson, supported by Board Members Nestor “Bay” Tolentino, Salvador Dimson, Jr., Anthony Torres and Cherry Manalo led the orientation conducted by PPP specialist Alberto Agra for local government officials at Capitol.
The forum came after representatives from the private sector also attended a previous orientation on the ins and outs of the PPP.
Agra pointed out the necessity of the PPP Code in implementing programs and projects that will be mutually beneficial to the government and private sector, with Kapampangans ultimately reaping the rewards.
"There are 18 modalities that the provincial government and local government units can go in. These are all governed by specific laws and guidelines. What is most important is that there has to be a framework so that the PPP Code can be realized," he said.
Henson agreed and stressed that local government units have to draft and pass their respective codes for the identified partnerships and projects.
Capitol's own PPP Code is up for another round of discussion in the plenary this coming week.
"What we need to do is craft the appropriate PPP Code so that we can fully harness the benefits of the partnerships," said Henson.
