SM branch launches weather station-A A +A

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The SM City San Fernando Downtown recently launched its Automated Weather Station, which is set to provide weather update and other information.
The event was attended by tenants, students of Pampanga High School and leaders of Barangay Santo Rosario led by Chairman Jesus Liang.
Scarlet Pagdanganan, public relations manager of SM Downtown San Fernando, said the project is aimed to inform people about weather reports through www.weather.com.ph.
Marco Sarmiento, training Officer of the Provincial Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Office, discussed the importance of monitoring our local weather.
Engineer Russel Mari M. Quiambao, Building Admin officer of SMSF Downtown and Engineer Lenard Jules M. Somyden, Resident Engineer of SMSF Downtown also shared their knowledge about the AWS.
They conducted an actual demonstration to make the launching more interesting, Pagdanganan said.
“We can benefit on this leading us on how to react on the weather. It is also best for storm tracking and by travelers also to check the localized weather condition,” she added.
This project was sponsored by the Weather Philippines Foundation Inc. (WPFI) and SM Investment Corporation.
The WPFI, in cooperation with the Metromedia of Switzerland, is working together with donors in the private sector to support the Philippine government in its efforts to mitigate the effects of disasters.
