CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The 35 village chiefs of the City of San Fernando--15 of whom are new to the post--were trained Friday on the proper budgeting process and project planning.
The budget training and project planning was conducted by no less than Department of Budget and Management Region III Director Elisa Salon, City Planning Officer and Acting City Administrator Fernando Limbitco, City Budget Officer Eda Panganiban and City Accountant Maria Gisel Rivera.
Limbitco said the training program was designed specifically for the village chiefs, who are mandated to come up with their respective Barangay Development Plans for the year 2014.
"Our barangay captains and their village councils are expected to craft their Barangay Development Plans and align these with that of the city government’s Comprehensive Development Plan. Among the salient points to be noted in their plans for budgeting are programs for the youth, persons with disabilities, livelihood, peace and order, environment and health, among others," he told Sun.Star Pampanga.
For his part, Mayor Edwion Santiago underscored the importance of goof fiscal management.
"Since the City Government of San Fernando is known when it comes to transparency and accountability, we are setting ourselves as good examples in following the budget process and proper project," he said.
