CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PamCham) Vice Chairman Rene Romero has called on the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the City Government to remove concrete barriers in major highways in this city.
Romero said that some of the concrete barriers, placed without appropriate warning signs, pose danger to motorists and commuters. He added that the barriers have been placed not considering the overall traffic situation in the areas.
“Our traffic managers really need to consider evaluating the way they place concrete barriers. Proper warning signs and the overall traffic volume in the area should be considered,” Romero said, adding that as a motorist, he does not feel safe when travelling the McArthur Highway and the Jose Abad Santos Avenue.
The businessman is also urging the City Government to study the possibility of constructing a rotunda under the steel flyover in Barangay Dolores.
He said the traffic situation in San Fernando has changed dramatically that local officials should consider implementing measures that would improve traffic situation in the city.
