Guv to hospital workers: Shape up or ship out-A A +A

MACABEBE -- Governor Lilia Pineda ordered on Friday government hospital workers in Pampanga to either “shape up or ship out” if they cannot provide quality health care to patients they serve in their respective medical facilities.
The governor’s order covers all 11 district hospitals and the provincial hospital in the province; and was a result of what she described as a filthy, unkept Domingo B. Flores District Hospital in this town that she visited Friday for the turnover of a new P8-million, two-storey medical services building.
“You requested last year for this hospital to be renovated which we did at the cost of P14 million. After that, it was very clean and sanitary. But in less than a year after, this is what we see. It does not even look like a hospital anymore because it very dirty inside and out. Kawawa ang mga pasyente ninyo dito dahil baka ma-impeksyon pa sila,” she told utility aides, nurses and medical staff.
Pineda added that “there is no reason why the 50-bed hospital should not be maintained considering its complete facilities and personnel on duty.”
“If you do not act on this, it’s either I will reshuffle the staff and employees here and send them to Porac or Arayat. If you can’t shape up immediately, better resign. Nakakahiya kay mayor (Annette Flores-Balgan) dahil nakapangalan pa naman sa tatay niya ang ospital na ito. Nakakahiya din kay (Department of Health-Central Luzon) Director (Leonita) Gorgolon. Baka hindi ito pumasa sa assessment nila,” she said.
“Ang pinaka-importante ay ang kapakanan ng mga pasyente. Paano sila gagaling sa maduming kapaligiran na ito?”
