CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Dependents, relatives and other family members of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) got tips on financial management and literacy from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (Owwa) in Central Luzon on Friday.
The seminar-workshop, which started on Thursday at the SM City Pampanga Event Center, is part of Owwa’s Family Day, and was conducted in partnership with the Provincial Government of Pampanga.
Owwa Administrator Carmelita Dimzon told Sun.Star Pampanga that 278 OFWs and their families from all over Central Luzon attended the financial literacy seminar, empowering and providing them access to additional tools in managing more sensibly their money received from kin working abroad.
“The financial literacy seminar is an important part of Owwa’s ongoing commitment to help our OFWs and their families learn about the financial issues that affect their day-to-day lives,” Reyes said.
“Our aim is to help OFW dependents learn how to measure and manage the money their OFW relatives make and develop an appreciation and value to what they work hard for. It also intends to teach the OFW family the need and options of saving, holding, and making additional money and help them plan, create a personal mission and set a time-line for their accomplishment,” she added.
