CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) on Saturday spearheaded the formation of the Pampanga Education Industrial Tripartite Council (PE-ITC) at the Benigno Aquino Hall in Capitol.
Aiming to promote "sustainable harmony" in the education sector, the Dole-Pampanga, Commission on Higher Education, Department of Education (DepEd), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, and the Provincial Public Employment Service Office of Pampanga, and some 30 schools from the secondary and tertiary levels in the province also signed the Memorandum of Understanding on the Voluntary Code of Good Practices and occupational safety and health standards at the workplace, between the Dole and the PE-ITC.
Dole-Pampanga head Arlene Tolentino said that the PE-ITC will look closely into the various issues and concerns of the education sector.
“This sector is faced by many issues concerning employment, wages, welfare benefits, and others. Management cannot do it alone, neither can government. It takes concerted efforts from all stakeholders, both from the public and private sector, to do this herculean task. This is the very reason why the PE-ITC was created,” she said said.
Other issues taken up during the initial council forum include the implementation of the DepEd’s K to 12 Program, wages and benefits, and migration of teachers from private to public schools.
The PE-ITC is composed of University of the Assumption, Don Bosco Academy, Holy Angel University, Mary the Queen College, East Central Colleges, Our Lady of Fatima University, Jose Feliciano Colleges, Systems Plus College Foundation, Republic Central Colleges, Assumpta Tech Colleges, Assumpta Tech High School, Narcisco School Inc., Christ in You Faith Academy, St. John Bosco School, Mary Help of Christians School, St. Nicolas College, St. Anthony College of Technology, Don Teodoro V.
