“Some of the students will now be able to go back to their normal routine and even attend schooling properly,” Ordonez said, adding that KDF’s “Walking Free” will continue to service amputees in Pampanga as well as nearby provinces.

Walking Free is an initiative of KDF that aims to unburden amputees and their loved ones by providing them prosthetic limbs so that they can be productive again.

The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) had also been helping in the program.

KDF president Benigno Ricafort said that in 2011 alone, PCSO had funded 76 prosthetic legs with a value of P1.1 million, the operation for 146 harelip and cleft palate patients through its contribution of P434,000, the cataract surgeries of 45 patients through a contribution of P225,000, among others.

The KDF, in 2011, has served 1,674 patients through the total contribution of PCSO of some P1.9 million.
