Lawyer: Arroyo very frail-A A +A

CLARK FREEPORT -- Lawyer Raul Lambino said that former President and now Pampanga second district Representative Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is very sick.
"Hindi mainam ang kanyang kalagayan. Alam naman natin ang findings ng mga doctor. Nagde-deteriorate na mabilis ang kanyang kalusugan," Lambino said.
The lawyer issued the statement to newsmen covering the 43rd General Membership Meeting and Induction of New Members of the Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (PamCham) here last Thursday.
Lambino said Arroyo will be turning 67 years old this coming April.
"Very frail ang kanyang condition," he said.
Two weeks ago, Lambino said he saw the detained lawmaker walking with a cane.
"Sabi ko, ma’am bakit naka-baston po kayo? Sabi niya (Arroyo), masakit kasi ang aking mga buto and I was advised [by doctors] that if I keep on walking, I should use a cane," Lambino said.
Arroyo is taking pain relievers to ease the pains, according to Lambino.
"We know the side effects of constant medication, so hindi talaga siya gumagaling. Lalong lumalala yung kanyang situation although hindi ganun kabilis katulad mangyari siguro ng ibang mga pulitiko," Lambino said.
He added that the physical appearance of the former president is not good compared to her condition two months ago.
Lambino, at the same time denied that they filed a motion in court to transfer Arroyo to house arrest.
“No we don’t have that. We never filed nor even signified plan to have her under house arrest. Our consistent position is that she is entitled for a bail. So, nag-file kami ng motion for bail but it was denied by the Sandigang Bayan last year,” Lambino said.
He said they filed a motion for reconsideration and a supplemental motion last year and it was denied last Wednesday.
“So, talagang medyo nalulungkot kami at siya ay talagang disappointed and depressed dito sa way she is being treated but we are not stopping our fight for her to seek temporary liberty pending this trial,” Lambino said.
According to him, Arroyo’s counsels filed a supplemental motion which is expected to be heard by the Sandigang Bayan next week.
Lambino said they are hoping that prosecutors will present critical evidence and critical witnesses who can testify that Arroyo indeed participated on the charges against her.
The only evidence submitted was that the president really conspired with the illegal disbursement of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) funds is the letter with an “Okay” sign, Lambino said.
“Ang sabi namin ay how can they establish a conspiracy only by innuendos? It is clear that the talk of plunder or even in the graft and corruption, there has to be a specific allegation or evidence na talagang siya ang may actual knowledge or disbursement na talagang nakinabang siya. Wala silang maipakitang ebidensiya,” Lambino said.
