CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Pampanga Chamber of Commerce (PamCham) signed a memorandum of agreement over the weekend on the implementation of social service and medical programs in the province.

The signing was done by DSWD Secretary Dinky Soliman, PamCham president Jim Jimenez and KDF Trustee Sylvia Ordonez at the Regional Government Center in Maimpis.

The agreement aims to pool resources, manpower and logistics for the implementation of social service and medical programs for the poor.

Ordonez said that the DSWD has been an active partner of KDF with its social service programs. The DSWD has been active in identifying beneficiaries for KDF programs and has also been generous in lending its offices for KDF activities and events.

KDF was established by Kapampangans living outside of Pampanga to provide development, medical, and social programs for Pampanga.

KDF, with its operations base at the Jose A. Datu Medical Center, has been able to facilitate the distribution of hundreds of leg prosthesis to amputees of Pampanga; provide dozens of reconstructive facial surgeries, and cataract operations to indigents. The group, chaired by businessman Manuel Pangilinan, is also doing livelihood training programs in Pampanga.

Ordonez said that PamCham’s entry into the partnership will bring renewed interest and focus for the KDF programs particularly on livelihood.

Recently, the KDF hosted Organic Swine and Quail Egg Raising and Food Processing Seminars to local beneficiaries. All of the seminars provided by KDF are free.

“With PamCham we can now look into other concerns and become partners in addressing concerns in the countryside,” Ordonez said.
