CAMP OLIVAS -- An army officer and his cohort were arrested by joint operatives of the Cabanatuan City Police and PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) during an entrapment operation at Rustica Restaurant in Barangay Bernardo, Cabanatuan City, recently.
In a report here, Senior Superintendent Crizaldo Nieves, Nueva Ecija police provincial director, identified the suspects as 1st Lieutenant Darrel Morales, a member of the Philippine Army and his cohort Jose Suva Viola, 21, a resident of Paco Roman Extension, Cabanatuan City.
The two were arrested by operatives of Cabanatuan police and PNP-ACG from Camp Crame, Quezon City while reportedly extorting money from a member of the PNP-ACG in their belief that he was the owner of a computer shop which was their prospective victim, Nieves said.
Recovered from them were: a Bushmaster M-16 rifle with magazine loaded with 19 bullets, an Amscor 12-gauge shot gun with 23 ammunition, and a military type jeep without plate number.
The two suspects and the recovered items were taken to the PNP-ACG headquarters in Camp Crame, Nieves said. (Ric Sapnu)
