CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Fernandino Coalition Against Tuberculosis (FERCAT) has initiated a planning session about the coming health programs, projects, and activities of the City of San Fernando at the Levy Panlilio Hall recently.
The program was hosted by Dr. Renely Tungol, rural health physician, and the city's coordinator for infectious diseases and healthy lifestyle programs.
"Tulungan nating makahanap ng trabaho ang mga TB patients para masustain nila ang kanilang nutrisyon. Dumarami ang tuberculosis cases kasi wala silang enough information. Hindi nila alam na ang TB ay nakakahawa, ang TB ay nagagamot, at libre ang gamot ng TB dito sa City of San Fernando," Tungol said.
"Still, we are lucky that our provincial hospital, Jose B. Lingad Memorial Hospital, is in our city. Mas madali, at libre," she added.
The meeting was attended by coordinators and representatives of several organizations and groups in CSF such as the FERCAT, Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Pamcham), Public Employment Service Office (Peso), Department of Education (DepEd), City Health Office, City Information Office, PhilHealth, Department of Tourism, City College of San Fernando, and others.
The group agreed to launch Go4Health on March 24. This is an adaptation of the program Pilipinas Go4Health, nationwide healthy lifestyle movement spearheaded by the Department of Health (DOH).
The program aims to inform and encourage Filipinos to practice a healthy lifestyle by making a commitment to physical activity, proper nutrition, and the prevention or cessation of smoking and alcohol consumption.
Other activities talked about were TB in the workplace orientation, barangay TB awareness campaign cum planning workshop, and lung month celebration cum awarding ceremony.
