20,000 jobs await hunters on Labor Day fair

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) Central Luzon Office announced on Monday that some 20,000 employment opportunities await job hunters from across the region on May 1, Labor Day.

Dole Central Luzon Director Raymundo Agravante said that the job fair, which be held in different venues in Central Luzon, is one of the highlights of the month-long festivities for the 112th Philippine Labor Day Celebration with the theme “Sa Sipag, Tiyaga, Talino, Buong Mundo, Saludo sa Manggagawang Pilipino.”

“The Dole regional and field offices, regional coordinating committee, together with other partners from the national government, local government units, Public Employment Service Offices (PESOs), and all SM Malls in the region, will all be in full-force to facilitate the upcoming Region-Wide Labor Day Mega Job Fairs,” Agravante said.

The region-wide mega job fairs will be held at various venues which include SM City malls in Baliuag and Marilao in Bulacan; Pampanga, Clark, and San Fernando downtown in Pampanga; Tarlac City and Olongapo City; Camp Servillano Aquino in San Miguel, Tarlac; Capitol Grounds in Baler, Aurora; and President Ramon F. Magsaysay Sports Complex in Candelaria, Zambales on May 1. On May 2, the fairs will be at the Provincial Capitol Compound in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija, and at the People’s Park, Provincial Capitol Compound in Balanga City, Bataan on May 6.

Agravante added that based on initial reports from the different PESOs all over the region, almost 20,000 job vacancies---9,244 for local and 10,638 for overseas---will be up for grabs courtesy of 404 participating companies, 320 of them local and 84 overseas employers.

Job vacancies for local employment include professionals, managers, supervisors, customer service representatives, call center agents, sales clerks, office clerks, production workers, machine operators, and service workers while engineers, administrative assistants, cooks, waiters/waitresses, construction workers, plumbers, and factory workers are needed for overseas employment.

Applicants in the job fairs may avail of various pre-employment services such as issuances of birth certificates, NBI clearances, and PhilHealth cards from the Dole's allied partner agencies which include the Social Security System , National Bureau of Investigation, Department of Foreign Affairs, PhilHealth and the Philippine Statistics Authority.

“Our jobseekers may register at the Job Fair venues as early as 9:30AM and we urge them to bring multiple copies of their curriculum vitae, certificates of employment for those who had previous work transcript of records, clearances, photos, and other pertinent documents such as TIN and SSS memberships to facilitate their job searching, good luck and happy hunting,” Agravante said.
