ANGELES CITY -- Businessman Ruperto Cruz expressed alarm over increasing robbery incidents which affect commerce and tourism in the city.
Cruz said that motorcycle-riding robbers are preying on Koreans, Americans, British and other nationalities.
He cited several incidents along the Friendship Highway and Circumferential Road where hold-up men on board motorcycles attacked foreigners.
Cruz urged city officials and law enforcers to implement crime-prevention programs so that the business and tourism in the city will not suffer.
"Why [allow these criminals to] kill the goose that lay the golden egg? The city government should act and do something about criminality," Cruz said.
He also asked the city government to extend support to the city police in terms of equipment like two-way radios, patrol cars, and other needs like fuel for service vehicles.
Tourists and investors will not go to a place where there is problem on peace and order, according to Cruz.
