BACOLOR -- Mayor Jomar Hizon on Monday commended the municipal administrator and the municipal engineer here for their dedication and honesty in public service.
Hizon told Sun.Star Pampanga that Municipal Administrator Gloria Cruz and Municipal Engineer Marieta Galura–Rodriguez were offered "gifts" recently by a subdivision developer, which they turned downed.
He said that the said developer talked to him and told him that he was impressed with the professionalism and dedication to public service the two local government executives have shown.
"Hindi alam ni admin at engineer na lumapit sa akin yung taong ito at sinabi niya na bilib siya sa pagiging matapat sa sinumpaan tungkulin ng dalawa natin kasamahan dito sa munisipyo. Inamin niya sa akin na nagbibigay siya ng gifts pero tinanggihan nila ito," Hizon said.
The mayor added that he will give a performance bonus to Cruz and Rodriguez from his own pocket, saying that the two are model government employees who serve as inspiration to other local government employees here.
For their part, Cruz and Rodriguez said that they did not accept the gifts since they were just doing their job.
They said that there is no need to give gifts or tokens because they believe that the reward of being a government employee is to serving the public. (Chris Navarro)
