ANGELES CITY -- Long and short firearms with expired licenses were recovered from a security agency in this city.
Policemen belonging to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Team (CIDT) and provincial police department seized 41 guns (shotguns, 9 millimeters, and .38 caliber pistols) from the office of Aquarius Security Agency Incorporated in Barangay Santo Domingo on Tuesday.
The firearms include 14 pieces of Armscor shot guns, 14 pieces of .9 millimeters pistols, one Armscor .45 caliber hi-cap pistol, 10 pieces of Smith and Wesson .38 caliber pistols, and six pieces of Armscor .38 revolvers.
The operation was conducted by elements of the CIDT headed by Chief Inspector Heryl L. Bruno by virtue of a search warrant issued against Amado Gomez Serrano, owner of the security agency, by Judge Ramon D. Palumar of the Regional Trial Court Branch 32 in Guimba Nueva Ecija.
Police officers also recovered live ammunition from the residence of Serrano, who was charged with illegal possession of firearms.
Based on the information gathered by the CIDT, the security firm’s license to operate had expired on February 24, 2013.
On November 11, 2013, the Civil Security Group of the Philippine National Police, through Deputy Director Gil Meneses, directed Serrano to cease from operating the security agency because he failed to renew the firm’s license.
