141 Tarlaquenos finish various PESO courses

TARLAC CITY -- A total of 141 Tarlaquenos residing in the capital finished various courses in trainings sponsored by the city Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in the first quarter of 2014.

"Sixty residents of Barangay Bantog and students of our PESO Training Center finished a course on Massage Therapy, 56 residents of barangays Matatalaib and Amucao graduated on Beauty Care and 25 residents of Barangay San Rafael on food processing," Mayor Gelacio Manalang disclosed.

Moreover, around 300 were given jobs with reasonable salaries under the Tulong Pangkabuhayan para sa Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) program in partnership with Department of Labor and Employment.

PESO likewise provided careers last quarter to 133 applicants through referrals and 106 through local recruitment activities.

Meanwhile, around 732 secondary students from five schools attended its Career Coaching Seminars while 111 tertiary students from two colleges took part in its Pre-Employment Orientation Seminars.

"In order for our vision of a progressive city to be attained and sustained, we need a competent workforce. That is why my administration shall continue to conduct trainings and seminars to have such," Manalang emphasized. (CLJD/RBRP-PIA 3)
