According to SWMB head Jaeson Sambat, the program, which was introduced to municipal and city solid waste managers, is designed “to give emphasis to all barangays to prioritize their budget, plans and programs on clean environment, agriculture, livestock and livelihood projects that would benefit and address these concerns and to ensure sustainability of these programs.”

He told Sun.Star Pampanga that performance assessment will be conducted on site through inspection to validate progress in the respective programs of the participating local government units and barangays. The rewards, he said, include the Best Practices and Sustainable Program, Governor’s and Sangguniang Panlalawigan Recognition, as well as media exposure, augmentation and technical assistance, and documentation.
"Aside from the citations, additional incentives for the participants with best practices are three units 150 cc Cargo Motor Trike and five units of Garbage Tribike, Plaque and Certificate for the first prize, two units 150 cc Cargo Motor Trike and three units Garbage Tribike, Plaque and Certificate for the second prize while the third prize winner will get one unit 150 cc Cargo Motor Trike and two units Garbage Tribike. All of these are to ensure the program’s sustainability," said Sambat.
He added that the deadline of submission of intent to participate in the KKGB program is on May 15.
“But we would encourage all LGUs and their respective barangays to participate in the KKGB. This is one sure way for us to concertedly address the solid waste management problem and help protect our environment,” Sambat said.
