MABALACAT CITY -- The mother and daughter tandem of Laus Group executives Ma. Theresa Laus and Carissa Laus-Manalili on Thursday celebrated their birthdays at the "Munting Tahanan ng Nazareth" here, sharing their blessings and bringing joy to some 41 special children in the institution for the poor, abandoned and afflicted with various illnesses.

"It is actually part of the corporate social responsibility of Max’s Restaurant and the family as well. We do this often because we want to share our blessings to them. It makes a day like our birthdays more meaningful knowing we touch the lives of those who need love and care," Mrs. Laus said.

Carissa, for her part, shared that they usually visit Munting Tahanan ng Nazareth during a family member's birthday or even without any special occasion.

"It has become sort of a ‘panata’ for us. I myself visit the folks here about four times a year to look after their needs and see how we could help them more," she said.

The Munting Tahanan ng Nazareth has been a home for helping the handicapped and children with hydrocephalus, epilepsy, autism, the mentally challenged, cerebral palsy, and deaf and mute who were abandoned and surrendered to the home. The Munting Tahanan ng Nazareth has been in service for 22 years and operates with the help of volunteers and benefactors.

According to Munting Tahanan secretary Yoneda Santos, the facility is very grateful to benefactors like the mother and daughter Laus, for helping and assisting them in their needs.

"They donate necessary facilities and medicines needed by our patients. Mrs. Laus, her daughter and their family are regular benefactors of Munting Tahanan. We and our patients are truly grateful to them for continuously reaching out and sharing their blessings with us," she said. (Ashley Jesther D. Dela Peña/Marionne I. Cayanan/with JTD)
