CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- A total of 778 applicants were hired-on-the-spot (HOTS) during Thursday's 116th Philippine Independence Day Job Fairs in Central Luzon.
Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) Regional Director Ana Dione said the 778 job seekers hired represent a placement rate of 27.02 percent of the 2,879 qualified applicants or 12.02 percentage points above the 15 percent target.
The jobseekers landed jobs as customer service representatives, sales clerks, waiters, production workers and factory workers.
Some 88 applicants, meanwhile, lacked the required skills and training and were referred to the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda).
"We are on a month-long monitoring of applicants for further interview from reports that will be submitted by the different participating employers in our job fairs, we are hopeful that these applicants will be hired in the days to come," Dole Technical Support and Service Division for Employment and Welfare head Nely Punzalan said.
Theme "Pagsunod sa Yapak ng mga Dakilang Pilipino, Tungo sa Malawakan at Permanenteng Pagbabago," 3,453 applicants trooped to the job fairs held at the provincial Capitol gym in Malolos City, Bulacan, Rizal Triangle Multipurpose Court in Olongapo City, and municipal covered court in Castillejos, Zambales.
