CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The Public Employment and Services Office (Peso) here said it will give employment priority to young adults in the implementation of Jobstart Philippines.

Emerlinda Dizon, Peso Training and Internship officer, said the top priority of Jobstart is to help individuals aged 18 to 24 land the right jobs and find the appropriate fields for them.

"We want to help these young adults because these are the ages that have difficulty in finding a stable job since some of them are fresh graduates and some did not even finish college," said Dizon.

She also stated that Jobstart will focus on those who do not have any experience or a maximum experience of one year since this is what most companies require.

The Peso will select 360 applicants who will then undergo assessment and internship that will last for six months.

"We will be putting them into internship trainings. In that case we will know if the beneficiary is fit for the position he or she is applying for," Dizon added.

The City of San Fernando was one of the chosen local government units in the country will conduct Jobstart.

Jobstart is in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment, Asian Development Bank and the Government of Canada.
