CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Gender and Development (GAD) Council of the City of San Fernando will conduct more seminars on empowerment to entice Fernandinas to participate more on barangay and government concerns.

GAD focal person Amalia Catacutan said they are strengthening the women sector here by conducting free seminars and trainings especially on their ability to govern.

"Last time we conducted a women empowerment seminar and we now plan on hosting another one since we are really pushing for the female sector of society to be more participative," said Catacutan.

She added that when it comes to discussions, women tend to keep mum because they feel inferior to men "since they are not taken seriously."

Catacutan also pointed out that the seminars that they will be conducting will be focus on the building the confidence among women and how to use their abilities when it comes into meetings and briefings.

She said that with the "inferiority" being felt by women, particularly those from barangays, "less and less are being participative and cooperative in terms of discussions mainly because they feel little of themselves."

The GAD Council will be monitoring women empowerment in the city for equal distribution of rights, opinions and gender balance.
