Rotational power interruption affects Pelco I electric consumers-A A +A

MEXICO, Pampanga -- Electricity consumers of the Pampanga I Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Pelco I) are affected by the rotational electric power interruption implemented by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).
The NGCP, the transmitter of electric power supply from power generators and producers to electric cooperatives and companies that distributes electric power to residences and establishments has revealed that there is major shortage of electric power due to the shutting down of some electric power plants.
The deficiency in the supply of electricity was further aggravated by the onslaught of Typhoon Glenda, which hit provinces in the Bicol region and some parts of Luzon including Metro Manila.
The weather disturbance has toppled a number of electric poles, cut power lines and damaged some electric power facilities in many parts of the country.
"Kami po ay humihingi ng paumanhin sa ating mga member-consumers sa mga power interruptions na ating nararanasan bunsod ng ini-implementang rotational power interruption ng NGCP dahil umano sa kakulangan ng supply ng kuryente sa mga ibang lugar sa ating bansa. Wala po sa aming mga kamay ang pag resolba ng mga brown-out na nararanasan natin kamakailan," Engr. Loliano Allas, the general manager of Pelco I, said
He added that Pelco I has suffered substantial damage on its power lines and has immediately restored the same as the said weather disturbance left the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
Meanwhile, NGCP Corporate Communications Officer Ernest Vidal told Sun.Star Pampanga that the power interruptions are due to a deficiency in supply.
"Our current capacity now is just at 4,200 megawatts while the demand is at 4,700 megawatts. Then the situation is aggravated by transmission problems in South Luzon. We cannot yet tell how long this two to four rotational brownouts will last. We ask our consumers to please bear with us." (DPL/JTD)
