CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Despite the absence of a clear-cut policy statement on the further development of Clark Freeport and the Clark International Airport during President Benigno Aquino III's recent State of the Nation Address, Representative Joseller Guiao said Thursday that he and other core stakeholders will still push for the development of the premier hubs.

Weeks before Aquino's Sona last Monday, the camp of Guiao wrote Malacañang asking if there would be at least a "mention of a clear policy statement" on the development of Clark.

But in the 93-minute address, only the development of Clark Green City was mentioned by the President.

Guiao, in statements to Sun.Star Pampanga, said that the mere mention of Clark Green City is enough for stakeholders to push stronger the development of the Freeport and airport.

"PNoy mentioned Clark Green City. The development of Clark, including the Clark Development Corporation and Clark International Airport Corporation goes hand in hand with the development of Clark Green City," he said.

Guiao furthered said, "It is added justification to improve the infrastructure surrounding Clark to support the huge influx of business and commerce in the area."

The improvement of infrastructure, he said, includes the further upgrade of the airport and the necessity of a railway system.

"This only strengthens our position to push for the development of Clark because the success of Clark is the success of Clark Green City, too," said Guiao. (JTD)
