STO. TOMAS -- A former councilor here and close ally of Fourth District Congressman Juan Pablo "Rimpy" P. Bondoc is eyeing the mayoralty seat in the coming May 2016 election.

Former Councilor and Congressional Legislative Staff Johnny "John" Sambo will reportedly run as mayor of Sto. Tomas.

Sambo, who served one term as councilor of this small town with seven barangays, was recently endorsed by Bondoc to run for the local chief executive post in the coming polls.

Just recently, Sambo donated an ambulance, dump truck, barangay patrol and SUV rescue vehicles to be used by the town’s villages.

Present during the recent turn-over were Barangay Chairmen Arthur Lumanog (San Bartolome); Lando Lingat (San Vicente); Reynaldo Sombillo (Moras dela Paz); Kagawads Itik Silvestre (Sapa Sto. Nino) and Lalay Quiambao (San Vicente).

"Bago pa man tayo nagbalak na humabol bilang mayor ay hindi tayo tumitigil sa pagtulong sa ating mga kababayan dito," Sambo said.

Sambo, together with Bondoc, organized a rescue and emergency team to assist Sto. Tomas folk during times of disasters and calamities.

Sambo is the son in law of long term Mabalacat City Mayor Marino Morales and is married to Morales’ daughter, incumbent Duquit Barangay Chairwoman Marjorie Morales-Sambo.

The aspiring mayor will be facing incumbent Vice-Mayor and would be mayoralty contender Mark Louie Arceo, son of former Mayor Lucas Arceo. Reportedly, also eyeing the same post is Liga ng mga Barangay president Bong Pineda.

Meanwhile, three term Mayor Lito Naguit is reportedly eyeing a different position but sources say that he and Arceo will still join forces in the next elections.
