CANDABA -- A suspect arrested by the local police in this town has confessed to murdering a 12-year old girl on August 15 and claimed that he took vengeance against the father of the victim.
Police Superintendent Criscente Tiguelo, town police chief identified the victim as Roschelle Velasquez Ingal, a resident of Barangay Barit here.
Tiguelo also named the suspect as Jovany Endrino y Tirrado, 33 years old, married and resident of Purok 4 of the same barangay and uncle of the victim.
The dead body of the victim was found near their residence in Barangay Barit.
Based on the investigation of police and claims of witnesses, they came to a conclusion that the victim’s uncle, Jovany, was the possible suspect on the brutal killing.
Investigation revealed that after a thorough pursuit operation on August 18 at about 8:10 in the evening, the suspect appeared at the wake of the victim, where he was arrested by the local police led by Police Inspector Roland Rigat, SPO1 Rommel Delos Santos and PO2 Anne Roque.
The suspect was immediately brought to the residence of Barangay Captain Guillermo Mangalus for questioning.
In the presence of barangay officials and the father of the victim, the suspect confessed and admitted the killing.
The suspect also yielded a small heat sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance believed to methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu.
In an exclusive interview yesterday inside the municipal jail, the suspect said he killed the student because of Esteban Ingal, father of the victim who allegedly “maltreated” him and “underestimated” his being a “Bisaya”.
“Kami daw mga Bisaya ay walang kuwenta. Pinapahiya niya kami lagi sa harap ng maraming tao,” the suspect said, referring to the father of the victim.
When the suspect chanced upon the victim who came from a school field trip around 8:30 in the evening of August 15, he immediately punched her on the face claiming that he saw Esteban in the person of the victim.
“Naiba iyong tingin ko sa kanya parang iyon ang tatay niya. Sinuntok ko kaagad. Noong wala na siya. (Naitanong ko sa sarili ko) Ba’t iyong bata ang nakahiga, hindi iyong tatay niya? Sobra ang pagsisisi ko bakit ko nagawa iyon. Kung gusto kong tumakas, puwede, pero pag lumilingon ako, nakikita ko siya, umiiyak,” the suspect added.
Rosita Velasquez Ingal, mother of the victim said she wants the suspect dead also.
“Kapag ang suspect pumapatay, ang gusto ko patayin din siya. Wala ng kulong-kulong. Para hindi na sila makagawa ng krimen. (If the suspect killed someone, he must be killed too. No need to put him in jail so he could commit any more crimes),” the victim’s mother said.
The mother also appealed to the Department of Education to ensure the safety of the students during field trips.
“Sa DepEd, sa mga nagpapafield trip, kung maghahatid kayo ng bata, siguraduhin niyong naihatid sa bahay, bago niyo sila iwan para hindi na ito mangyari sa iba pa,” (To DepEd which conducts field trips, ensure that the students are safe and already at home before leaving them to avoid a repeat of the incidenct),” the mother said.
Mayor Rene Maglanque assured the family of the victim that the municipal government will help in the pursuit of justice for the fatal killing of the victim.
“Iyong bata magpapahinga na may hustisya. Iyong mga taong masasama, gusto kong itaboy sa Candaba,” the mayor said.
Maglanque, together with Liga ng Mga Barangay Council president Nelson Alonso also announced that they will provide P50,000 for the local police who led the arrest of the suspect.
Governor Lilia Nanay Pineda said she will also give assistance to the family of the victim and the local police for solving a heinous crime.-(JTD and Joel P. Mapiles/Pampanga PIO)
