Wednesday, August 27, 2014
MACABEBE -- Lonell "Con" Macalino, board director of the Pampanga III Electric Cooperative (Pelco III) for Macabebe, was unopposed in the election held here over the weekend.
Macalino, who was appointed by Macabebe Mayor Annette Flores-Balgan in October 2012, was the lone candidate and got a fresh three-year mandate as member of the Pelco III board.
Macalino is the representative of some 15,000 PELCO III consumers in this town.
Macalino, who is also the General Services Office (GSO) head of the Macabebe municipal government, thanked “the good people of the town and Mayor Balgan for the trust and confidence in me.”
Macalino, secretary of the PELCO III board, pushed for the creation of the Bids and Awards Committee (BAC), which was then non-existent in the electric cooperative.
The electric cooperative also serves the towns of Apalit, Masantol, Minalin, Sto. Tomas and San Simon.
The election for directors of each town will be held in the succeeding months. The election in Apalit will be held on Saturday.
The election in nearby Masantol was declared a failure after candidates and aspirants were found unqualified.
Under the new law, the candidate must have finished a four-year course. (Joey Pavia/Contributor)
