APALIT - “The developed and more progressive Apalit is a product of the unity of the local government unit (LGU) and all Apaliteños.”
Thus said Mayor Peter Nucom as he reported the achievements of his administration before a multi-sectoral audience during his first “Ulat sa Bayan” on Friday, July 7.
Nucom, who served his first year as the town's mayor, detailed the programs and projects that were implemented under his incumbency including infrastructure, agriculture, environment, education, health, peace and order and livelihood.
The creation of the Municipal Tourism Office and Municipal Information Office was made during the first 365 days in an aim to improve the tourism in the town and give another platform for the local government and Apaliteños to communicate.
In the spirit of transparency, Nucom disclosed the total amount of budget allocated for various infrastructures projects such as upgrading and concreting of farm to market roads, construction and repair of different school facilities and construction of classrooms in the 15 public elementary schools and seven public high schools almost reached some P4-billion.
The Office of the Mayor also spent some P1,845,100 to provide financial assistance for the poor, aside from the hundreds of Apaliteños who also benefitted from the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office, Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs and Persons with Disabilities, Solo Parents and Sickly Individuals.
Nucom also reported the current and new investors and businessmen here who greatly contributed to the economic development of this town.
“Whatever we have achieved from July 1 until today, will never be attained without the support and unity of my fellow public officials in the Sangguniang Bayan (Municipal Council) and my fellow government employees in the municipal hall and of course, the people who let me serve and perform my duty as their mayor harmoniously in the past year, and hopefully in the next two years,” Nucom stressed.
With two years left in his first term, Nucom vowed to continue and further enhance the services that are being offered to Apaliteños.
He also disclosed his goal to provide inclusive growth for Apalit which will uplift the lives of the people, especially the poor, and provide more opportunities for the youth.
“I have a big dream for Apalit and for every Apaliteño and with your help and the unity of the local government, we will reach our common goal to provide development for our children,” he said.
