SAN SIMON -- Pampanga Governor Lilia Pineda said the construction of San Simon government hall "is a reflection of how progressive" the town "has become in the past seven years with the leadership of Mayor Leonora Wong."

During Pineda's speech at the groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, July 14, she cited the perseverance of Wong in fulfilling Simonians' dream of a developed and innovative town the programs and projects she implemented during her term.

“Matagal na niya itong pinangarap. Sayang lang, ngayon matutupad kung kailan patapos na ang term niya doon nasimulan. Pero itutuloy po namin ito para sa katuparan na rin ng pangarap ng mga tao sa San Simon,” Pineda.

Governor Pineda also lauded the commitment of the local government here in collecting taxes and properly implementing business permit application processes which provided additional resources that supplemented the local budget of this town.

Through the said supplemental funds, Wong disclosed that the local government was able to save P51 million to date which will be used for the construction of the local government hall.

“Ang pagpapagawa ng local government hall ay magmumula lahat sa savings ng munisipyo. Hindi kami mangungutang o nang-harass para makabuo ng pondo para sa pagpapatayo nito,” Wong said.

Wong added that the local government will allot some P100-million for the construction of the town hall. The remaining P49-million deficit will be filled in at the end of this year from the revenues from the business sector, specifically on the industrial businesses in town.

The soon-to-rise structure will occupy some 370 square-meter from the total three-hectare property that will also house other offices of the national agencies including the Philippine National Police and Bureau of Fire Protection, among others.

Located along the San Simon-Baliwag national road, Wong said that the new town hall will be more accessible to residents of San Simon as most of its barangays are located in the inner portion of the municipality.

Considered the first in Pampanga, the ceremonial groundbreaking rites was witnessed by several provincial executives including Department of Interior and Local Government-Pampanga Director Myrvi Fabia, board members Nelson Calara and Fritzie-David Dizon, mayors Emmanuel Alejandrino, Anette Flores-Balgan and Ferdinand Salalila.
