CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- In line with the celebration of Nutrition Month, the City Government of San Fernando, through its City Health Office, in partnership with the Gender and Development, held an Inter-barangay Zumbaers Biggest Loser Challenge on July 24 at the Heroes Hall.
Anchored on the theme “Healthy Diet, Gawing Habit for Life,” the participants who were identified as fat, overweight and obese were given four months to lose weight and tone up through physical activities such as zumba.
“Pinagtimbang namin sila nung March tapos bago magsimula yung kompetisyon nag-weigh in ulit sila para malaman namin kung sino talaga yung mga nakapagbawas ng timbang,” Gender and Development Focal Person Amalia Catacutan said in an interview.
After the dance contest, the participants also tested their wits through a game dubbed “Pautakan para sa Tamang Nutrisyon at Kalusugan.”
Catacutan added that the aim of these activities is to promote healthy lifestyle and encourage every Fernandino to participate in the different health programs of the city.
For his part, Mayor Edwin Santiago stressed the importance of engaging into fitness and intellectual activities to maintain not just a healthy body but also a nourished mind.
Under his administration, the health agenda states that prosperity comes to a community with a healthy citizenry.
Meanwhile, the winners for the Inter-barangay Zumbaers Biggest Loser Challenge were Barangay Dela Paz Norte (first place), Northville (second place) and Barangay Del Pilar (third place). (PR)
