MABALACAT CITY -- Mayor Crisostomo Garbo said he has ordered the clearing of drug-affected villages in line with the City Government’s anti-drug campaign.
Garbo issued the statement during a meeting with officers and members of the Capampangan in Media Incorporated (CAMI) in Clark over the weekend.
“Continuous po ngayon ang mga clearing naming doon sa mga areas of concerned naming. Mayroon na po kaming targeted areas,” the mayor said.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) recently cleared some 12 villages, according to Garbo.
“Ngayon mayroon pong 12 barangays na declared drug-free so there are still 17 iki-clear pa po natin,” Garbo said.
The official identified Barangay Dau, this city’s central business district, as seriously affected area in terms of illegal drugs.
Garbo at the same time lauded Dau Chairman Oscar Aurelio, a city councillor representing the Liga ng mga Barangay, for the barangay’s accomplishments on illegal drugs.
“Si Kapitan Oscar Aurelio, our ABC president, maganda po ang record niya ngayon. May mga records tayo, yung previous apprehensions namin including yung amount of drugs na nakuha na, andoon kay Colonel Cagape,” Garbo said.
