CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -– Department of Public Works and Highways-Central Luzon Director Antonio Molano, Jr. on Wednesday, September 13, asserted that they have “already implemented measures” to expedite the road project in Mexico town following the complaints of inconvenience raised by motorists over its construction.
This was after Provincial Board of Mexico recently passed Resolution No. 065-2017 which urged the DPWH-Central Luzon to shed light on the ongoing road construction in the portion of Jose Abad Santos Avenue in their town which causes inconvenience to motorists.
Molano told SunStar Pampanga that the road widening and upgrading project in Barangay San Pablo, Mexico is already placed under strict monitoring to ensure that its contractors follow the right procedure.
He added that he already called the attention of the project contractor to update them on the status of the road construction, as well as address the complaints of the affected motorists and local government of Mexico.
“Pinatawag ko na ang contractor ng project. Sinermonan ko na ‘yan at sinabihan ko nga na maraming reklamo sa project nila,” Molano said.
He, however, explained that the workers of the road project are only observing the proper window time in stripping off the road while finishing the asphalting of the other side.
He stressed that if the contractors will simultaneously strip off the road, the area will become muddy and may cause a bigger problem not only to motorists but also residents.
“But rest assured that we are looking into every citizen complaint at aksyunan ito sa abot ng aming makakaya. Pero humihingi din po kami ng kaunting pang-unawa habang iniimplement namin ng trabaho,” Molano told affected motorists.
It could be remembered that Resolution No. 065-2017 noted that workers doing the road project continuously drill existing concrete roads without finalizing first the replacement road.
It added that road construction also caused numerous vehicular accidents that resulted to injuries due to lack of reflective signs and proper lighting in the area.
“It is observed that there is no continuity in the execution of work as the length of time in the implementation of such takes a long period of time to accomplish,” the resolution read.
